Week of Aug 29 - too darn hot

Actual: salmon corn cakes with cornichon-coriander tartar sauce. Verdict: delicious, but very small serving sizes. Saturday

brisket, pickled onion, salsa verde, cilantro, feta on sweet potato home fries

braised coconut curry chicken thighs, spinach, rice noodles, coriander, fish sauce, lime, palm sugar

Actual: braised coconut curry chicken thighs with spinach, forgot the coriander, and a side of twice-fried plantains. Verdict: too long and hot for the weather to create, but quite good, especially with the floralness of the plantain side dish. Sunday 

okonomiyaki, pickled onions, pickled ginger, pork belly crackling

Actual: okonomiyaki, pork belly crackling, refried brisket. Verdict: still haven't figured out how to prepare the pork belly crackling, forgot I wanted to put on some furikake. Monday

Week of Aug 22 - jarred salsas and cilantro

To use: oranges, zucchini, napa cabbage, cilantro, sweet potato, fried onions, roasted salsa verde with chicken shreds, jarred salsa verde, jarred red salsa


Saturday: zucchini, corn, tuna fritters with panko, cilantro-lime yogurt & mayo sauce

Sunday: fried eggs, fried onions, roasted salsa verde, shredded cheese, toasts

Monday: brisket (combining https://houseofyumm.com/slow-cooker-mexican-brisket/ and https://heatherchristo.com/2019/06/06/spicy-orange-brisket-tacos/ to use the oranges and the last of the red salsa) on top of roast sweet potato with fried onions & cilantro

Tuesday: okonomayaki

Wednesday: plantain, salsa verde, brisket, fresh cheese

Thursday: rice vermicelli noodles, prik nam pla, cucumber, cilantro, peanuts


ideas: 

- fried onions with tamarind, palm sugar, fish sauce, red chili

- sweet potato with paprika butter

Notes from last week: chicken thighs in salsa verde worked well, but a lot of leftover salsa verde

Week of Aug 9 - salsa fresca

 I finally pulled up my socks and made salsa fresca because I had a jalapeno leftover from the weekend I fed a dozen people tacos (chicken, pork, beef, refried beans). Probably a tad nearsighted to make two cups of salsa to use up one small jalapeno, but now I know I can make a reasonable salsa and not buy the plastic tubs any more.

We also have: a partial tub of sour cream, jarred red salsa, jarred salsa verde, pickled red onions, oranges, zucchini, napa cabbage, sweet potato, bell peppers
